Public Health

Proceeding contribution from Alex Norris (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 30 November 2021. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Public Health.

The hon. Gentlemans question makes me think he has some plans to book; if he is trying to book a weekend away, he should not let me set those dates for him.

Turning to the regulations, and starting with the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings) (England) Regulations 2021 (S.I., 2021, No. 1340), it is right to reintroduce masks on public transport, in shops and other settings including banks, hairdressers and post offices for those who are not exempt. This measure should never have been abandoned. While mask wearing in public spaces forms part of the

Governments plan B, it was always part of the Oppositions plan A rather than an emergency measure, as was encouraging working from home where possible.
