HMRC Estate

Proceeding contribution from Geraint Davies (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 10 January 2017. It occurred during Urgent question on HMRC Estate.

Will the Minister think again about the location of the Wales tax centre? Will she consider siting it not in Cardiff but in the Swansea Bay city region, where property prices and other costs are lower, urban deprivation is much lower in European Union terms and skills are abundant because we have two universities? That was the logic of siting the headquarters of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in Swansea. As the biggest urban footprint in Wales, we need all the support that we can get, and it is very costly in Cardiff.
