Trade Union Bill

Proceeding contribution from Stephen Doughty (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 27 April 2016. It occurred during Debate on bills on Trade Union Bill.

The Minister is indulgent. I appreciate his generosity. Given some of the rhetoric from some of his ministerial colleagues and others about the matter, does he recognise that people might have a reasonable suspicion that even after collecting the data, the Government might seek to use these powers perniciously, going after

particular groups whose practices they are not happy with, rather than using the powers in the way that he describes? Does he accept that that is a reasonable suspicion?
