Policing and Crime Bill

Proceeding contribution from Karen Bradley (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 26 April 2016. It occurred during Debate on bills on Policing and Crime Bill.

I hope that the hon. Gentleman, for whom I have a great deal of respect, is not confusing reported crime with the prevalence of crime. The independent crime survey for England and Wales is very clear that prevalence of crime is down but the reporting of crime is up. I hope that he would welcome

the fact that we have more reported crime, because it is only by getting those reports of crimes that the police are able to solve them.
