The UK’s Justice and Home Affairs Opt-outs

Proceeding contribution from Keith Vaz (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 10 July 2014. It occurred during Debate on The UK’s Justice and Home Affairs Opt-outs.

The Home Secretary is right that the European arrest warrant is needed and right in principle, but the Home Affairs Committee was concerned about the way it has operated. I know she has worked hard to put forward changes, with forum bars and other such issues, but at the end of the day she does not have control over the judiciary in a country

such as Poland. Some of those countries are issuing warrants that are executed in our country, and it is extremely difficult to control that.
