Citizenship (Armed Forces) Bill

Proceeding contribution from Mel Stride (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Friday, 13 September 2013. It occurred during Debate on bills on Citizenship (Armed Forces) Bill.

I thank my hon. Friend for giving way and for his very gracious and, if I may say so, rather perceptive remark. Does not the fact that the anomaly that we are addressing today has now come to the Floor of the House, raised in a private Member’s Bill by my hon. Friend the Member for Woking (Jonathan Lord), mean that it has ceased to be a small matter? Instead it has become rather totemic, which is all the more reason why we should make sure the Bill has safe passage through this House.
