These are important issues, but I hope the hon. Lady recognises that on the public health agenda, which Labour Members regularly say is so important, there is now—I think for the first time—written into legislation an obligation on the Secretary of State, and therefore for the NHS, to secure"““continuous improvement in the quality of services provided to individuals for or in connection with…the protection or improvement of public health.””"
That must be reflected all the way down the tree; it will not stay only in the Department of Health office.
