The hon. and learned Gentleman knows perfectly well, though he was wholly inaccurate in his understanding of the process of treaty change when he spoke earlier. He knows that there are areas where we have decided that we will share our sovereignty with other countries in the European Union. If, however, we chose to do so, we could decide to leave the European Union and that would no longer apply. As a result of the Lisbon treaty, there is a process for leaving the European Union, which did not exist before. [Interruption.] I note that the hon.
