Manchester City Council Bill [Lords] and Bournemouth Borough Council Bill [Lords]

The hon. Gentleman is sufficiently long in the tooth to know that I cannot tonight give commitments about legislation in the way that he would like. I recognise that there is concern about this issue across the House, and that is one of the reasons why we took the initiative to carry out the research. We want to respond to hon. Members' concerns about the need for a national response to the issue, and to make progress as quickly as possible. Finally, I return to the point that I was making when the hon. Member for Shipley (Philip Davies) intervened, which is that the Government would not have a problem if the revival motions were to be carried tonight.
