Health Bill [HL]

Proceeding contribution from Earl Howe (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 23 February 2009. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Health Bill [HL].
Those are important reassurances, which I take on board fully. I was reassured in particular by the Minister’s mention of the Ministerial Code, which I hope and believe will pertain throughout future Governments. I acknowledge of course that a Written Statement was made to Parliament when the present constitution was signed. I shall consider carefully what he said and whether it is sufficient for the purposes of this Committee. I was grateful for the support of the noble Baroness, Lady Howarth, for the amendment. The amendment may be unnecessary in the light of what the Minister said. I shall take advice on that point. In the mean time, I beg leave to withdraw it. Amendment 23 withdrawn.
