UK Borders Bill

Proceeding contribution from Paul Rowen (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 9 May 2007. It occurred during Debate on bills on UK Borders Bill.
I am listening carefully to the Minister’s explanation. He cited an example involving the DRC. Given that that is an unsafe place, we would not deport anyone back to that country, whether they were under 18 or over 18. The section 11 safeguards would not be affected in such circumstances. As I understand the way in which the system operates at the moment, an asylum seeker will not be sent back to an unsafe country.
