Statistics and Registration Service Bill

I am glad that the Minister agrees with the spirit of the amendment. Will he go further by giving it practical application in having one single applicant chosen by an outside body? That would genuinely ensure that there is no distortion. Some would say that there have been distortions in government appointments; for example, there are very few monetarist economists on the Bank of England’s advisory board. I urge the Minister to take that on board. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Clause 3, as amended, agreed to. Clause 4 [Non-executive members]: [Amendment No. 22 not moved.]
