Although the restoration of the link is welcome, how does the Secretary of State respond to the National Pensioners Convention, which argues that the link has not been restored to its previous level? Previously, the Secretary of State had the option of making a link to either earnings or prices—whichever were more beneficial—but the pension is being linked now only to earnings. Why not return to the previous position?
