Armed Forces Bill

Proceeding contribution from Derek Twigg (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 7 November 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Armed Forces Bill.
I beg to move, That this House agrees with the Lords in the said amendment. The commanding officer currently has a limit of £1,000 that he can award by way of a service compensation order. The Secretary of State can, by order, substitute the sum in the Bill. The amendment qualifies that so that he can do so essentially only to increase the limit in line with inflation. The amendment was tabled on the recommendation, which we were happy to accept, of the Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee.
