Armed Forces Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Drayson (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 6 November 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Armed Forces Bill.
My Lords, I will carefully read in Hansard what the noble Lord has said and reflect on whether there is any merit in what he suggests and whether it adds anything to legislation as it exists. If any commanding officer were to become involved in criminal activity, he would be liable to prosecution under criminal law—and, of course, it is right that he should be. I hope that that reassures noble Lords on this matter and that as a result noble Lords will conclude that the amendment is unnecessary. I ask the noble Lord to withdraw it.
