The noble Baroness said: The amendment is intended to ensure consistency throughout the Bill. As Members of the Committee will be aware, as part of the redraft of Clause 8 that was done in another place, the defences available for certain elements of the animal fighting offence were clarified as being ““lawful authority”” or ““reasonable excuse””. Amendments Nos. 31 and 32 are proposed to ensure that the defences available in Clause 7 are consistent with this approach to Clause 8. I beg to move.
