I apologise for arriving in the middle of the debate and so I shall confine my few remarks to the amendment of the noble Baroness, Lady Byford. I share, in a sense, the anxieties about what is ““wild””. I have two thoughts on this. First, is a Dartmoor pony wild? Is an Exmoor pony wild? What is wild? Secondly, and slightly anecdotally, some years back I was on an extended tour of China—indirectly paid for by the Chinese Government—and, among many other things, I was taken to a circus where one of the acts consisted of performing domestic cats. It was only because of the sense of courtesy that I felt obliged to observe to those who had taken me that I stayed—it was appalling. So what is ““wild””? That is my question.
