Identity Cards Bill

If I dealt with all these amendments in graphic detail, I would avoid having to say any more. But of course I never quite manage to deal adequately with the noble Lord, Lord Thomas of Gresford. I shall therefore respond to the issues that have been raised. In response to the noble Lord, Lord Crickhowell, the number of complaints we have currently received relating to the UK Passport Service is 8,386, which is the equivalent of 0.16 per cent of the total business, while we have received some 1,685 positive comments. The most recent survey, carried out in November 2005, suggests that 80 per cent of those interviewed did not take their complaint beyond the first stage.
