The noble Lord said: Amendment No. 215 relates to Clause 22, which is described as the power to authorise provision of information in other circumstances. Again, I hope that my amendment is self-explanatory. It would require details of all authorisations given under this clause—this is the easy sweeping-up clause that entitles the Secretary of State on a wide front to provide public authorities with information—to be recorded in the register entry of the individual concerned and to be retained on the register for not less than 10 years. Again, this amendment may be superfluous but it would at least be good to have it clarified. I look forward to the Minister’s response. I beg to move.
