I hope that such a sub-committee would not mean that there would be reduced representation on the main Public Transport Users’ Committee for Wales on behalf of the disabled, the frail and the elderly. That is where representatives are needed, where they can have the first and most direct input into the proposals put before the National Assembly. It is very important that folk like this are there. My mother was blind and deaf. Sometimes one asks, ““What is it like to be blind and deaf?””. I might close my eyes, but of course I can open them again. I might try not to hear, but then I can hear again. It is only if you have some experience of disability that you come to realise how serious it is.
I am uncertain about the amendment. In no way should it reduce the number of folk who are disabled being able to make representations on the main Public Transport Users’ Committee.
