Transport (Wales) Bill

My interest in that company is extremely slight. I think I have been to one meeting with it in a year. I am certainly no part of that franchise, the Virgin franchise or the Arriva franchise in Wales. I have been talking to one of the Arriva Trains people this morning, but that is because I keep active in the whole world of transport. I am not an advocate, as it were, in any way of the Great Western franchise. It is a matter of common knowledge that I am a member of the stakeholder advisory board, which meets very occasionally. I say ““very occasionally”” because the meeting yesterday was cancelled, as was the one before that. I am a passenger on Great Western and I am consulted about my views. I used the service to travel to Hereford last week and it was quite appalling. I certainly do not brook or budge from making criticism of the company. The journey illustrated the point that I am trying to make. There were people on the train going from Oxford and Worcester to Hereford, and then going on to Swansea and Ludlow. On arriving at Hereford we were nearly two hours late and any idea of making the connection went completely out of the window. It would perhaps help the Minster to know that in a survey of transport generally, conducted by Rod Eddington, ““connectivity”” is one of the qualities he is seeking from transport services in this country. I beg to move.
