I am grateful to the Minister for his comments. We are not alone in being somewhat surprised at the lack of any reference whatsoever to rail services in the Bill. As I sought to emphasise when moving the amendment, we are really interested in whether the Bill links up sufficiently with the Railways Act 2005 to allow for the integration that we all desire in transport provision in Wales. We may find out in due course that there are inadequacies, but that remains to be seen.
I can well understand that members of the public would like to see more in the Bill along the lines that I have suggested, but I was moved by the possible necessity of a special power to enable integration to continue rather than what is already provided in the Railways Act 2005. But I have the Minister’s assurance that the integration of the railway system with bus and other transport modes is not only desirable but also very possible. Given that, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment.
Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
