I am grateful to the noble Lord for his comments on my amendment. He has certainly clarified the situation.
We are also glad to understand that the commissioner has powers in other parts of the Bill to ensure access by older persons to services. It is, as the Minister and the Committee will know, a cause of considerable complaint in Wales that access is not always readily available and that the services are sometimes inadequate. Certainly provision is unequal in different parts of Wales.
We are grateful for the reassurance given by the Minister that all of this falls within the ambit of the commissioner’s activity. Reassured to that effect, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment.
Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
