Equality Bill [HL]

moved Amendment No. 86:"Page 4, line 30, at end insert—" ““(   )   In determining what action to take in pursuance of children’s human rights, the Commission must have particular regard to the importance of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.”” The noble Baroness said: I give apologies for the noble Baroness, Lady David, who is unable to be here at the moment, but who has also put her name to the amendment. We are trying to achieve in this amendment the objectives we stated last Wednesday in dealing with Amendments Nos. 75 and 84. We seek to strengthen Clause 9(4) by inserting a further sentence stating that the commission should have ““particular regard”” to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in determining what action needs to be taken. I will not go on at length; as I said, everything that had to be said about this has already been said. I beg to move.
