Written question asked by Richard Burgon (Labour) on Wednesday, 7 March 2018, in the House of Commons. It was due for an answer on Thursday, 1 March 2018. It was answered by Rory Stewart (Conservative) on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, pursuant to the Answer of 8 February 2018 to Question 126465, what estimate his Department made of the cost of providing the information sought.

Answer

The Electronic Monitoring service has always been delivered using a contracted infrastructure. My officials have estimated that it would take two members of staff at least one week to design a comparable electronic monitoring service and identify training and other support mechanisms necessary to deliver the service before calculating the cost. This would breach the £850 disproportionate cost grounds threshold
