Summary

The Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC) is a new body which will help with the scrutiny of agricultural aspects of free trade agreements. It will be an independent, expert group made up of trade and agriculture specialists.

The Commission’s role will be to advise the Secretary of State on whether a trade agreement could mean a change in the UK’s domestic statutory protections, or government’s ability to set those protections, relating to animal and plant health standards, animal welfare standards and environmental standards as they relate to agricultural products.
