European Union Bill

Proceeding contribution from Mark Hendrick (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 7 December 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills on European Union Bill.
Depends how much blood is on it, I think. The modern Conservative party has become a surrogate for the old Referendum party. It is quite fortuitous that my speech was preceded by that of the hon. Member for Richmond Park (Zac Goldsmith), the son of Sir James Goldsmith, who served with me in the European Parliament. I remember the damage that the Referendum party did to the Conservative party up and down the country, and it is interesting to see that Sir James's son now sits on the Conservative Benches.
