Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill

I am tempted to make a partisan comment about the hon. Gentleman's own political party appealing to extremist views, but I have decided not to. I do not think that that opinion can be genuinely held. Undoubtedly all politicians presenting themselves for election try to secure the largest number of votes. What I think that AV will do—and here I agree with the Deputy Prime Minister—is put an end to safe seats. I say that as one who represents a seat that many people would probably consider to be historically safe.
