It might help the Committee to know that, certainly for Scotland, returning officers will allow recounting to be done only at constituency level. They will not support a Scottish-wide recount because, they argue, it would be far too complicated. I think that that undermines the point made by the hon. Member for Grantham and Stamford (Nick Boles).
