Academies Bill [Lords]

Proceeding contribution from Lord Coaker (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 19 July 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills on Academies Bill [Lords].
The normal way in which somebody pursues concerns is by tabling amendments—sometimes they are passed. Given the programme motion and the way this Bill is set up, has the hon. Gentleman considered what would happen if he were successful in having his concerns allayed by way of amendments being passed? As there is no Report stage for this Bill, it would appear that that would cause a great deal of problems for his own Whips and those of the coalition Government.
