In summary, the Government have put through this order to further implement the provisions of Part 1 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007. The order abolishes the Lands Tribunal and transfers its jurisdiction to the Upper Tribunal Lands Chamber. In putting forward this instrument, we are continuing the process of tribunal reform that began in 2001 with Sir Andrew Leggatt’s review. It is the Government’s belief that the transfer of the Lands Tribunal’s jurisdiction to the new tribunals structure will benefit users of that tribunal. I commend this draft statutory instrument to the Committee.
