Appointment of the Comptroller and Auditor General

It certainly should, and we have a compromise at the moment. The Public Accounts Committee is strongly of the view that we should have full rights of access. Tim Burr has been a public servant for 40 years. He worked at the centre of government until he joined the NAO 14 years ago, and he has been Sir John's deputy for eight years. Tim Burr is very well qualified and I am confident that he will continue to develop the NAO's work during his time in charge.
