Yes, indeed. The latest estimate that I have seen is in the briefing sent to us by the Institute of Legal Executives, which states that the estimated cost of ““light-touch regulation”” has risen from £28.6 million to £37 million or £38 million,"““with… running costs now predicted to be £19.9 million””."
All those figures are higher than those given by PricewaterhouseCoopers at the time when the Joint Committee was sitting. I agree with the hon. Gentleman that up-to-date figures would help politicians to decide where the costs should lie.
