Are not the problems that the hon. Gentleman saw on his visit to Sefton a result of the fact that the last Tory Government deregulated the buses, which led to the stupid idea of competition which, in most areas, has ended up with monopolies? He referred earlier to the fact that bus patronage in London has increased. That was the only area that was left regulated.
