Greater London Authority Bill

I have no interest to declare as a former GLA member or anything of that sort. I am, however, a Londoner, and have taken a considerable interest in the Bill because I am interested in the governance of London. However, Clause 2 is a very comprehensive rule, and provides for much greater scrutiny by the Assembly. I am not in favour of having extra bits written into legislation if it is not necessary. We have enough legislation already, as many people think—I certainly think so. To write in this redundant wording when we already have Clause 2 is not something that we should countenance as a Committee.
