Greater London Authority Bill

Proceeding contribution from Andrew Dismore (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 12 December 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Greater London Authority Bill.
Is not the answer to the point made by the hon. Member for North Southwark and Bermondsey (Simon Hughes) that, under the current arrangements, there are no criteria governing the Secretary of State’s decision as to whether a particular project can or cannot be called in? However, bearing in mind what my hon. Friend the Minister said when she introduced the debate, we will have very clear criteria governing what is and is not a strategic issue from the Mayor’s point of view.
