Greater London Authority Bill

Proceeding contribution from Baroness Hoey (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 12 December 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Greater London Authority Bill.
I agree absolutely, because that happens in all our boroughs. It is important, too, that section 106 money is paid up front much more quickly. I am aware that other hon. Members wish to speak, so I shall conclude. I support the Bill, but I hope that the Minister will take into account the genuine concerns on both sides of the House about the difficulty of planning, which divides communities and, in many cases, political parties in those communities. Mayoral involvement must be handled extremely carefully and with a great deal of understanding of the importance of planning to local communities.
