Greater London Authority Bill

Proceeding contribution from Andy Slaughter (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 12 December 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Greater London Authority Bill.
The moment has obviously passed. In the current climate, the Bill is the right thing to do, although the safeguards are necessary, because there is a crisis in housing in London and those who are charged with addressing it are not doing so properly. Indeed, Conservative councils are doing the opposite. Their attempts to contain the development of affordable housing are victimising the most vulnerable people whom they should be representing in their boroughs. Plus ça change.
