My Lords, I listened to the Minister with great interest. I hope that my point is germane to the debate and that your Lordships will forgive me if it turns out not to be so. Can the Minister give an assurance that the Government will continue to recognise the significant role of the Christian churches, particularly in enhancing community cohesion among people of all faiths and none? Will those who make decisions about lottery grants to voluntary and community sections recognise that and not in any way discriminate against Christian churches which make such applications? If they do discriminate, one should know on what spurious grounds they do so.
