I thank the Minister for his remarks about animal fairs. I look forward to the Government’s further thoughts on the matter.
On animal sanctuaries, again I thank the Minister for his long and, I think, thoughtful reply. If I interpret the feeling of the Committee correctly, there should be some kind of regulation and clarity of definition, but saying that is a great deal easier than achieving it, which is the Government’s job and not ours. The Minister said that we might have an attempt at definition by Report to discuss. That would be extremely helpful to pursue the matter.
The Minister’s reply was constructive and detailed. We will want to look at that detail and to read exactly what he said before taking the matter further. On that basis, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment.
Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
