Health Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Warner (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 15 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Health Bill.
I do not propose to venture down the paths that the noble Lord, Lord Monson, is encouraging us to go along. He thinks that they are relevant, but I do not think that they are relevant to this Bill. The noble Lord, Lord Naseby, raised the issue of ID. There are a range of proof of age cards around. Guidance is given by trading standards officers to retailers on the range of available cards. The Government do not seek to support one card over another. However, we work with trading standards officers to ensure good compliance. Those arrangements will continue if the age is raised from 16 years-old to 18 years-old following the public consultation. I believe that is the correct answer to the noble Lord, Lord Naseby. Clause 13 agreed to. Clause 14 [Code of practice relating to health care associated infections]:
