Health Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Warner (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 15 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Health Bill.
I do feel fairly comfortable with my position. I said that, in view of the strong feelings, I would take this issue away and consider it with my colleagues. I have made it crystal clear, and I will make it crystal clear again that the Government are consulting on raising the age to 18. They have no plans to go beyond that. There will be a public consultation to which anyone can respond; it will be in the public arena. Members of the Committee will no doubt be able to respond if they wish on that issue. When we have completed that public consultation, we will announce the results.
