I am slightly amazed by that answer. The Minister described Her Majesty’s Government as a government of choice. A few months ago, in answer to a rather mischievous supplementary question that I asked in Question Time, he said:"““We still live in a democracy””.—[Official Report, 8/3/06; col. 749.]"
My question was why they did not go the whole hog and ban smoking altogether. If they are a government of choice, this part of the Bill is one of the most restrictive that I have ever seen on choices of individuals. It is a rather curious argument that the Minister has just used.
