I thought that the noble Baroness made some perfectly sensible points, which I hoped that I could meet, until we reached the section about the nationalisation of childhood. I should emphasise that nothing could be further from the ambitions of the Government than to nationalise the childhood of every child in the country. I did not catch the name of the noble Baroness’s philosopher who believes that this is the great new plot of the Labour Government.
