Identity Cards Bill

Proceeding contribution from Charles Clarke (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 29 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Identity Cards Bill 2005-06.
No, I will not give way. On those three key points, Lord Armstrong’s amendment preserves the integrity of the national identity register, deals with the question of residence permits and documents other than passports, and proposes a time limit of 1 January 2010. These are important changes, and I repeat my appreciation for the approach that he has taken in seeking to secure agreement.
