moved Amendment No. 131:"Page 75, line 29, at end insert—"
““( ) In rule 29 (equipment of polling stations), in paragraph (3)(c) for ““names of”” substitute ““entries relating to””.””
The noble Baroness said: Government Amendment No. 131 deals with a missed consequential amendment. Rule 29(3)(c) of the parliamentary election rules requires a returning officer to provide each polling station with,"““copies of the register of electors or such part of it as contains the names of the electors allotted to the station””."
As it stands, the returning officer would have no obligation to provide the parts of the register that contain entries relating to those who are anonymously registered. The amendment corrects this by substituting ““names of”” in rule 29(3)(c) for ““entries relating to””. Similar consequential changes are already included at other points in the schedule. I hope noble Lords will forgive the fact that we missed it and accept the amendment.
On Question, amendment agreed to.
