My name appears on Amendments Nos. 49 and 50. I am not quite sure why it appears on both, but it probably should on Amendment No. 49. However, in raising the point, the noble Lord, Lord Hanningfield, is doing us a service. It is not clear from the substantial debates on anonymous registration in the House of Commons or from documentation that the Government have provided, exactly what the criteria will be. It is important that the criteria are set out as clearly as possible, so that we do not get into a situation where some places have a lot of anonymous electors and some have hardly any, because EROs are making decisions on the basis of different criteria. I look forward to hearing what the Minister has to say.
