Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers’ Compensation) (Payment of Claims) (Amendment) Regulations 2006

I shall attempt to answer the questions asked by the noble Lords, Lord Skelmersdale and Lord Oakeshott. There are no established new treatments for mesothelioma and lung cancer although a number of promising new drugs are available for trials and use by the National Health Service. I was asked about firms and their responsibility. Although a firm no longer exists, the insurer may and can proceed with a claim against the beneficiaries of the firm.
