: I had come to rather the same conclusions as the hon. Gentleman, but—to muddy the academic waters further—will he also note that the turndown in the improvement of the participation of lone parents in employment is also coincident with a reduction in the expenditure on the new deal for lone parents, which is also set out in the Library briefing? That dropped from £95 million to £91 million in the years in question.
