My right hon. Friend rightly points to the financial and other benefits that accrue to families when a lone parent works. However, many of the people—they are mostly women—who take on flexible work patterns and part-time work find that they are under great pressure, without the same financial remuneration as their male counterparts. Can we do more to ensure that there is greater fairness in the system for women who take on such jobs?
